YAC was created in 2006 by Greg and Denise McHale. The McHale’s have been competing in various sporting events over the last ten years, with a focus on adventure racing. This couple has managed to marry their love of sport with years of dedication and teamwork with enormous success. Having reached the podium in many major International Adventure races, the team is now considered one of the top five teams in North America and is gearing up for an even better 2008 season. The McHale’s created the Yukon Adventure Challenge with the hope of introducing people to the sport of adventure racing and to share with others, their passion for the sport by creating a grassroots, real wilderness adventure race!

 

Denise McHale
Denise has proven herself as one of the top female adventure racers in the world. Her determination and all around athletic ability has set her apart from competitors. Denise is well known in the territory and across Canada for her accomplishments in running. She is a sub-three-hour marathoner and one of the top female marathoners in the country. Running and triathlon led Denise to the sport of adventure racing, where she has quickly made a name for herself. Denise is passionate about sport and fitness and works throughout the territory as a recreation and active living consultant.

 

Greg McHale
Greg is an accomplished all around athlete who has excelled at a number of sports. Greg comes to adventure racing from a background of climbing, trail running and mountain biking. He is a natural team leader who has many successful ascents of North America’s highest mountains to his credit. Greg’s athletic ability makes him a stable part of any team on which he competes. His confident navigation has led him and his team to top 10 finishes in every race he has entered.
